District Safety

District Security Ambassadors patrol all PBID areas seven days a week. These patrols are made on foot, bicycle and by a motorized vehicle called a T-3. PBID Security Ambassadors also provide escorts for visitors, guests, employees and others to their vehicles or residences within the PBID during hours of service. Service hours are: Monday-Wednesday: 10AM – Midnight; Thursday – Sunday: 10AM – 2AM by Allied Security (310-303-4471).

Black Knight Patrol – 213-985-6499
After Hours – Overnight Patrols Only
Nightly 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM

Graffiti Removal

Provided as a free service to PBID stakeholders, graffiti is removed without unnecessary delay within the PBID. A graffiti eradication team removes graffiti and paints affected areas on an as-needed basis.

Services Schedule

The PBID funds programs that provide a clean, safe environment to encourage business growth, enhance property values and enthusiastically welcome visitors into our community.

Alley Cleaning

Alleys are patrolled and litter and illegally dumped items are collected twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday.

Street & Sidewalk Cleaning

All streets and sidewalks are swept on Monday mornings. Sidewalks are also pressure washed on a periodic basis.

Litter and trash are also removed from the streets and sidewalks in the morning hours Tuesday through Saturday.

Downtown Planters

Landscaping is an important part of creating an attractive place to live, work and visit. The District installs and maintains planters and tree areas. This includes improving the soil’s quality and installing drought-resistant, low maintenance plants.

San Pedro YouTube Economic Development Marketing

The PBID works to attract greater numbers of visitors to the District on behalf of its stakeholders. PBID’s efforts also support the professional services, retailers, restaurants and attractions located within the District. These activities include but are not limited to: on-going collaborative and independent marketing, advertising, public relations and event sponsorships.

The District also has a very strong Social Media presence on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; links are in the footer of this website. Additionally, PBID executives participate in destination travel-related trade shows and conventions throughout the year and work closely with Los Angeles Tourism. LA Waterfront Trolley

The PBID purchased two used trolleys in December 2010. These propane powered vehicles provide free transportation services throughout the main corridor of the District.

Decorative Street Lighting

The Tivoli-style LED lights – featuring hanging retro globes – were chosen to blend with the vintage lamp posts already in the downtown. The strands form a canopy of white light covering 5th, 6th and 7th Streets between Pacific Avenue on the west and Harbor Boulevard on the east. Strands are also located on Mesa, Centre & Palos Verdes Streets.

Landscaping

The PBID trims all city trees within the District annually to keep businesses well exposed and trees healthy.

Streetscape Furniture

PBID and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) are working individually on complementary streetscape projects for the downtown areas.

Old concrete benches, planters and trash receptacles have been removed from 6th, 7th, Center and Mesa Streets. CRA has installed several new iron pieces that match the color of the newly installed street light poles.
